Åbo Akademi is an international research university with a broad Swedish-language educational responsibility in Finland. With its special Nordic foundation, Åbo Akademi holds a recognized position nationally and internationally in research and education. Åbo Akademi is seeking a specialist in education and learning support. The position is permanent from August 10, 2026 (or by agreement), based in Turku. Education and learning support at the Education Services supports teaching staff and students in matters related to education, teaching, and study administration. Language services also include supporting the university in ensuring that students meet and can demonstrate the linguistic and communicative competence required by law. In the role of specialist, you will work independently and closely with colleagues in a knowledgeable and committed work community, contributing to well-functioning processes and strong support for everyday education. Responsibilities include handling tasks related to language-related degree requirements, processing study administrative matters, and serving as a specialist in language services. The role also involves contributing to clear processes, good service, and effective support for students, colleagues, and operations. You will be responsible for questions related to language legislation, language skills, and communicative ability in accordance with legislation and Åbo Akademi's requirements. Support the manager in matters concerning language proficiency requirements for degrees according to Åbo Akademi's instructions for degrees and studies. Handle amendments, exemptions, credit transfers, and exemptions within mandatory language and communication studies, assess language of instruction, and compile preparations and decisions regarding these. Support the head of education and learning support in tasks related to development, reporting, information, and representation within language services. Support the manager in work related to work plans and hourly employment. Qualifications include a suitable higher university degree, experience in higher education administration is an advantage, very good knowledge of Swedish, and good knowledge of Finnish and English.
