Job Description

A position for a department physician is available in the Clinical Chemistry division. HUS Diagnostic Center is Finland's leading provider of clinical laboratory and imaging services. Our primary operational area includes specialized healthcare within the HUS consortium and primary healthcare in the well-being areas affiliated with HUS. We also manage laboratory and imaging operations for the Kymenlaakso and South Karelia well-being areas. We operate across eight medical specialties. We are responsible for several nationally specialized tests as well as research and education at university hospitals. Diagnostic tests play a central role in confirming, excluding, and monitoring diseases, as well as in treatment and screening. Approximately 3,300 laboratory and imaging professionals work at over 150 locations within HUS Diagnostic Center. The functions of the Clinical Chemistry division are located in Meilahti and nine other hospitals providing 24/7 emergency services. The division produces nearly 20 million laboratory tests annually and is accredited according to standard SFS-EN ISO 15189:2022. Our goal is to continuously develop our services according to customer needs, following lean principles. Job Description We are seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and proactive specialist in clinical chemistry to join our team in the Clinical Chemistry division, specifically in the hematology laboratory. The suitable specialty for this position is clinical chemistry. The clinical chemistry specialist acts as an expert in their field, participating in diagnostic assessments, providing reports, and contributing to operational development. The role requires extensive knowledge of hematology reporting (including morphology and flow cytometry analysis of peripheral blood and bone marrow aspirates, blood count analysis). Experience in blood transfusion, coagulation disorder laboratory analysis, and research in hematology is considered an advantage. Good oral and written communication skills and teamwork skills are essential, both within the unit and with clients and partners. The position begins on August 1, 2026, or by agreement. The salary for this position ranges from €6,300 to €6,710 per month, with possible experience and other allowances. We also have performance-based pay and other incentive systems. Proficiency in Finnish (good oral and written skills) and satisfactory proficiency in Swedish (oral and written skills), or vice versa. Applicants working in patient and customer facilities must have vaccination against infectious diseases according to the Communicable Diseases Act, and those working in healthcare units must provide health status verification for tuberculosis.
