Job Description

We are seeking a Finnish and Literature teacher, primary location: Yli-Maarian School. The position is temporary, from August 7, 2026, to March 25, 2027. The duties of a Finnish and Literature subject teacher include 18 weekly lessons for grades 7-9. Yli-Maarian School educates students in grades 1-9. Students come from Yli-Maari, Moisio, Paattinen, and Jäkärlä. The school, located in the Ypsilon multi-purpose building, has approximately 700 students. Yli-Maarian School does not have special or focus classes; instead, we aim to provide good basic education for all students. Elective courses offer students the opportunity to deepen or broaden their skills based on their interests and hobbies. A strength of Yli-Maarian School is community spirit, diverse professional skills among staff, and a strong team culture. Qualifications are based on the Decree on Qualifications for Teaching Staff (986/1998). The selected candidate must provide a health statement (KVhL 7 §) and a criminal record extract (Act on the Background Checks of Persons Working with Children 504/2002). The employment relationship includes a trial period. We expect you to: - Treat students as individuals and support their growth - Be linguistically aware and consider students' language backgrounds in teaching - Have good cooperation and interaction skills - Be an active and development-oriented team member Experience in developing the operational culture of a comprehensive school is considered an advantage.
