Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic, results-oriented, and technology-driven development manager to work on the DEFINE ecosystem in Riihimäki for a fixed-term position until the end of 2027. You will be responsible for guiding the project, developing joint operational models among partners such as Enter Espoo, Business Joensuu, Business Oulu, Linnan Kehitys, Forssan Yrityskehitys, HAMK - Häme University of Applied Sciences, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Yrityssalo, YritysLohja, and Business Turku. As a development manager, you will oversee project implementation, develop shared operational models among network partners, build partnerships (including the Defense Forces and key industrial players), support startup companies, and promote international cooperation (especially NATO and EU) in the field of defense and dual-use technology. You will also play a key role in planning and launching new initiatives together with your supervisor. Key responsibilities - Lead and execute the DEFINE project, ensuring the achievement of goals and intermediate objectives. Central areas include the DEFINE accelerator activities and digital platform development. - Support partners in launching defense business activities. - Collaborate with the Finnish NATO Innovation Range initiative and ensure connections to the DEFINE partners. This includes developing testing, evaluation, verification, and validation capabilities (TEVV) to support NATO's Rapid Adoption Action Plan. - Build and strengthen the national innovation ecosystem in collaboration with companies, research institutions, and the public sector. - Coach startup companies in business development, funding, and internationalization. - Negotiate partnerships and sponsorships with key stakeholders (companies, investors, public sector). - Organize and coordinate events such as innovation challenges, hackathons, and technology events. - Plan and implement communication activities to promote the ecosystem. - Identify new projects and funding opportunities for the development of the DEFINE ecosystem. What do we expect from you? - Experience in business and technology development, project management, and innovation ecosystems. - Understanding of the defense sector. - Ability to guide startup and SME growth and internationalization. - Strong negotiation and networking skills. - Goal-oriented work approach and interest in defense industry innovations. - Experience with EU-funded projects is considered an advantage. The position requires a suitable higher university degree and fluent Finnish and English language skills. Your supervisor will be the Technology and Innovation Director.
