(Senior) Manager, Embedded SW - Työmarkkinatori - Oulu, Finland

Bittium Engineering Services business segment delivers engineering services for high-end product development, focusing on secure connectivity and embedded systems. Engineering Services customers are leading OEM brands in Europe and Northern America, operating in verticals such as industrial IoT, defense & security, medtech and telecom. We are now looking for a (Senior) Manager (Embedded) to join our Engineering Services organization. In this role, your main objective is to ensure that our Business Segment has the required software competencies and resources to meet current and future customer needs and support business growth. You will manage and support a team of software professionals, focusing on competence development, people leadership, and resource planning, while project work is led by project managers. You will also own the software project management process and steer the software project portfolio through the project managers. What you will do - Manage and support a team of software professionals in their daily work, with a focus on people leadership and competence development - Ensure a positive employee experience, including well-being, engagement, and performance - Drive competence development and identify skill gaps within your team - Drive SW development and SW project management best practices, way of working improvements and AI utilization with specialists - Steer software project portfolio (e.g. internal steering groups) and coach software project managers to deliver best quality, customer satisfaction and financial results - Allocate and prioritize resources in close collaboration with project managers and business stakeholders - Maintain visibility of team capacity, utilization, and future needs - Manage resourcing and recruitment activities based on business needs - Act as a key interface between employees, projects, and business lines - Participate in operational planning and the development of ways of working What we expect from you - Experience in software development (e.g. embedded systems, software engineering, or related areas) - Experience in software project management and/or delivery portfolio management - Understanding of modern software development practices and emerging technologies, including how AI can be utilized to support and enhance R&D work - Experience in people management and a hands-on approach to leadership - Understanding of project-based work and business models - Ability to work in a structured and proactive way - Strong collaboration and communication skills, fluent Finnish and English as mandatory requirement - Prior experience in some of Bittiums focus verticals (e.g. defense or industrial) is a plus Bittium offers you a meaningful role in a growing international high-tech company.
