Pattasten School is seeking a full-time substitute teacher for a fixed-term position from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. Would you like to work in a relaxed hometown on the shores of the Bothnian Bay and teach in schools with sufficient resources for learning support and a development-oriented, encouraging community? Welcome to Raahe! Raahe is the second largest city in North Ostrobothnia, with a history rooted in the age of sailing ships and storytelling culture. We are known for our archipelago and sea location. Our school is a comprehensive school with approximately 530 students in Raahe, Pattijoki district, with good transportation connections. Pattasten School is a warm-hearted comprehensive school where students and staff work closely together in all daily situations. Our community emphasizes a strong sense of unity, open communication, and respect for others. We value positive pedagogy and understanding of diversity, so everyone has the opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed as themselves. The full-time mathematics teacher's work focuses on teaching mathematics, physics, and chemistry to upper grades. We appreciate expertise in the content of mathematical subjects, pedagogical skills supporting subject goals, and versatile assessment skills. Successful performance in the role requires not only formal qualifications but also enthusiasm for developing our school's operational culture and the ability to plan work collaboratively with other mathematics teachers. Experience in teaching mathematical subjects is considered an advantage. Qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of teaching staff (986/1998). In the absence of qualified applicants, the position can also be filled by a person without the required degree. Original certificates proving qualifications must be presented during the interview. Salary and working conditions are governed by the Local Government Collective Agreement for Education Personnel (OVTES). The basic salary for teachers in Raahe exceeds the salary scale specified in OVTES. The selected candidate must, within 30 days of receiving the employment decision, present a satisfactory health certificate and a criminal record extract related to working with children, issued within the last six months. We apply a trial period of up to half the duration of the employment relationship for fixed-term positions. Raahe emphasizes staff well-being and offers various benefits, including free swimming once a week, discounts on services at Kuntokeidas Vesipekka (bowling, badminton, etc.), free exercise classes and gym sessions, weekly physical activity (1 hour/week), sports, cultural, and massage benefits, as well as holiday home shares at discounted prices in Ruka and Vuokatti.
