Job Description

The Data-Driven Management unit is responsible for developing the information base and data production for the Western Uusimaa wellbeing area, and for producing impactful analytics. Our task is to support the achievement of the strategic goals of the wellbeing area. We build a reliable data foundation and produce valuable and impactful information to support management and professional decision-making. Cost-effectiveness development is a key theme for us: how can we achieve as much health and wellbeing as possible with limited resources? We are seeking a data specialist for the data-driven management unit, within a team of approximately 10 data specialists, with work allocated where it is most needed. Your work may involve developing reporting for services for the elderly or digital services. The core task of the data specialist is to act as a bridge between business data needs and technical implementation. You formalize data needs into technical specifications that guide the work of data engineers and BI developers. Most often, this involves building Power BI reports, but your contribution is also central to the development of many other data products and services. The work of a data specialist is a versatile combination of technical skills and domain understanding. In practice, your tasks include: - Identifying data needs together with the development manager - Planning data products, often BI reports, to support management and development: defining user and purpose, designing metrics, specifying required data, conceptual modeling, and logical modeling - Exploring and reviewing data in data warehouses and validating data quality before report publication - Guiding the use of reports - Implementing data extracts for service area needs - Actively participating in the development of shared practices within the unit All of this is strongly team-based. In the specification phase, you will be part of a data team consisting of a data responsible and a controller. The implementation team includes a data engineer and a BI developer, and your work is often guided by a development or project manager. Technical specification work is supported by a lead data specialist, and your supervisor is the head of the data specialist team. The required and valued skills are listed below — we hope you are self-driven, solution-oriented, and eager to develop continuously. We work in a modern environment located in Azure Data Lake, where we model data according to the micro-architecture. Our reports are visualized with Power BI. We work remotely but also meet regularly at our office in Otaniemi. Workplace: Western Uusimaa wellbeing area, corporate administration, Tekniikantie 15, 02150 Espoo Working hours: 36 hours and 15 minutes per week The position is permanent. Suitable education: Relevant higher education degree Requirements: - Experience in report production and reporting technologies - Ability to identify data needs and translate them into technical specifications - Basic understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and data architecture - Skills in analytics tools such as SQL or Python - Experience collaborating with business units and utilizing data for decision support - Good collaboration and communication skills, and fluent Finnish language skills Candidates selected for the position may be asked to provide a drug test in accordance with the Western Uusimaa wellbeing area's drug policy. Valuable skills: - Experience with data lake or data warehouse work - Basic knowledge of Power BI reporting - Skills in Databricks and data modeling - Experience in social and health care sectors We are agents of change. We boldly renew what needs improvement and preserve what works. We invest in the wellbeing of every employee and offer diverse benefits. We provide a lunch benefit and an annual €300 allowance for cultural, wellbeing, sports, or travel tickets. Additionally, you will have opportunities to develop your skills through extensive online training via Eduhouse and Oppiporta.
