Job Description
Pattasten School is seeking a school assistant for a fixed-term position from August 6, 2026, to June 4, 2027. Welcome to Raahe! Raahe is the second largest city in North Ostrobothnia, with a history rooted in the age of sailing ships and storytelling culture. We are known for our archipelago and sea, located nearby. Our school is a comprehensive school with approximately 530 students in Raahe, in the Pattijoki district, with good transportation connections. Nature and excellent outdoor sports facilities enable diverse learning environments. Pattasten School is a warm-hearted comprehensive school where students and staff work closely together in all daily situations. We are looking for a capable and cooperative school assistant to join our team at Pattasten School. The position is primarily located in the special class of Rekolanniity Child Protection Unit, where you will work alongside a special class teacher and another school assistant. Some of the assistant’s hours may be in general education classes at the elementary school. The weekly working hours are 32 hours/week. The duties of a school assistant in the Rekolanniity special class include guiding, assisting, and supporting students’ growth and learning activities together with the special class teacher and another assistant. The job requires teamwork skills, versatile interaction, firmness, group management skills, and understanding of diversity. Experience working with children with special needs is an advantage. Qualifications The qualification requirement is a professional qualification in teaching, morning and afternoon activity guidance, or an equivalent qualification. If qualified applicants are not available, the position can also be filled by a person without the required qualification. Original certificates proving qualification must be presented during the interview. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Act 504/2002 before starting the position. Employment relationship Terms of employment are governed by the municipal general collective agreement (KVTES). A trial period applies, the length of which depends on the duration of the fixed-term contract.
