Sexton Job Position with Apprenticeship Training - Suomussalmen Seurakunta - Suomussalmi, Finland

The parish has a need to train a new person to perform sexton and grave digger duties. The tasks include many aspects that are learned only through practice, and there is a lot of tacit knowledge. The best way to train for this role is through an apprenticeship program. The start date and duration of the apprenticeship depend on the applicant's educational and work background, as well as the schedule of the educational institution. The work takes place at various parish sites, so a driver’s license and the possibility to use a personal car are essential. Sexton duties include managing collections and flags during services and events, maintaining cleanliness of facilities during events. The job also involves independent property tasks such as inspections and maintenance of buildings and machinery, snow removal, gritting, etc., as well as periodic basic cleaning of properties in a team. The role includes weekend and evening work, as well as working on public holidays. Performing sexton duties requires responsibility, a flexible attitude, professional skills, and good stress tolerance. We value skills in meeting and serving people. The position requires initiative, the ability to work independently, and sufficient IT skills to operate the software used by the parish. The salary will be according to pay group N20, which ranges from €1,438.39 to €1,667.78.
