Job Description

In our special work, no one is left alone. The premise is that the child and their family are actively and equally involved in planning their own life. The behavior of children with serious symptoms is based on reasons that are taken into account in their care and education. We work closely with other authorities and stakeholders and participate in societal influence. The work is demanding, but difficult situations are managed together. We invest in further training because we want to give you the best possible tools to do this important work! The State School Homes are the national service provider for demanding residential care and basic education with special support. The operation of the State School Homes is regulated by law under the Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) concerning child protection units (1379/2010). THL and the Ministry of Education are responsible for the outcome management of school home activities and education organized in school homes. Are you a child protection professional looking to do something entirely new? With the updating of the Child Protection Act, the State School Homes are tasked with providing a new type of rehabilitative, closed institutional service for children in need of particularly demanding residential care. The activity will be launched initially at Liminka School Home, and we are now seeking a team leader for this service. Before the planned start of the service in early 2027, the focus will be heavily on developing the new service, including training and personnel planning, as well as methodological choices and service description formation. In the initial phase, you will work closely with the director of the school home, Jouni, and the project manager responsible for launching the rehabilitative closed service, Janne. The goal is to create a safe and rehabilitative institutional service that meets the most demanding child protection residential care situations. The team leader is responsible for ensuring that the care and educational work in the school home aligns with the values and strategy of the State School Homes. The diverse responsibilities include personnel management, shift and holiday planning, recruitment, and cooperation with stakeholders. In changing daily personnel and client situations, the team leader directs operational activities. The team leader also ensures the safety of children and the community. As the team leader for the rehabilitative closed institutional service, you will be responsible for: - Directing the personnel of the newly established service, supporting competence and well-being at work - Planning individual rehabilitation processes for placed children in collaboration with staff and the child's broader network - Ensuring the unit's safe, predictable, and goal-oriented daily operations - High-quality record-keeping and reporting - During the preparation phase, forming the service description and maintaining quality after the service has started.
