Rural Affairs Director - Alajärven kaupunki - Alajärvi, Finland

The City of Alajärvi is seeking a Rural Affairs Director for a permanent position. The role involves leading, supervising, and developing rural services across Alajärvi, Soini, and Vimpeli municipalities through cooperation agreements. The director will promote responsible entrepreneurship and investments by utilizing rural development program funding, oversee administration, finances, communication, stakeholder relations, and participate in budget and financial statement preparations. The position reports to the city manager and is a member of the city management team, starting from September 1, 2026, or by agreement. Qualifications include a higher education degree in agriculture or a college-level degree, with experience in rural affairs as an advantage. Success requires leadership, interaction skills, Finnish language proficiency, digital skills, and a driver’s license. Terms are based on KVTES, with a six-month probation.
