Job Description

We are seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator for the city of Imatra, to be employed permanently starting from September 21, 2026, or according to agreement. The position is located within the urban environment responsibility area at the Imatra Water unit. The urban environment responsibility area includes maintenance and development of city infrastructure, management and leadership of Imatra Water, Imatra Heat Ltd., and Imatra Property and Area Services Ltd. Imatra Water operates as a financially separate accounting unit within the responsibility area. Water supply services include water procurement and distribution, wastewater collection, pumping and treatment, as well as contract, billing, and customer service matters. As a wastewater treatment plant operator, your task is to control the process at the Meltola wastewater treatment plant. Key responsibilities include operating the treatment process, handling faults, sampling, analysis, and reporting, ordering and dosing process chemicals, and assessing and documenting maintenance needs. The role may also include other tasks related to the water utility sector, such as monitoring wastewater pumps and the Kurkisuon gas incineration plant. The position involves on-call duties, provided you receive sufficient training on the procedures during on-call periods. You will be part of a four-person team at the wastewater plant. There is potential for remote work some days per month, subject to agreement. We offer comprehensive onboarding and support from a lively Karelian work community. Finnish language skills, a driver’s license, and access to a personal vehicle are also required. We value initiative, a proactive approach, and conscientiousness. Curiosity and interest in learning new things are appreciated. Practical problem-solving skills and good logical reasoning are advantageous. The work is diverse, but some routine tasks require tolerance for repetition and precision. We expect applicants to be responsible and to understand the importance of safety and operational instructions. Selection will be based on merit and suitability as assessed through interviews and other evaluations. The employment terms are governed by the municipal technical personnel collective agreement. The salary for the position is between €2,965 and €3,170 per month. Additional allowances may be paid based on previous experience and performance.
