Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel who wants to take a central role in corporate governance, regulatory issues, and legal advice to management and the board. The role suits you if you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have strong integrity, and can combine legal precision with business understanding. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for matters within corporate law and corporate governance, providing qualified legal support to management and the board. The role covers both strategic and operational issues—your legal expertise enables well-informed decisions. You will be a key advisor on issues where business, law, risk, and governance intersect, contributing to ensuring that Alandia continues to develop in a commercially and regulatorily sustainable manner. Your responsibilities include, among others: corporate legal matters and work with Alandia's corporate governance and internal controls, authority dialogue and regulatory issues, legal support related to the company’s asset management, legal support for insurance operations, drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, and internal control documents, support to management in strategic and operational initiatives, minutes and advisory in board work, handling of the company’s operating permits, and other legal support as needed. The role involves many parallel contacts and issues, both internally and externally. You need to be confident in navigating complex environments where quality, judgment, and delivery are crucial. You will be part of the company’s Risk & Finance team and report to the CFO. The primary location is Mariehamn, but Stockholm or Helsinki may also be considered for the right candidate. We offer a flexible working environment with some possibility for remote work, but the role is mainly office-based. We are looking for an experienced lawyer with strong business understanding who sees law as a tool to enable business, manage risk, and support operational development. You have a law degree, 5–10 years of experience in qualified legal work, experience in corporate law and governance, experience with regulatory issues and authority dialogue, familiarity working closely with senior decision-makers, and excellent communication skills in Swedish and English; Finnish is a plus. Experience from insurance, banking, or other regulated industries is advantageous. As a person, we believe you are business-driven and professional, structured and solution-oriented, confident in complex and international environments, humble and collaborative, detail-oriented without losing the big picture, with good judgment and high integrity. You have the ability to switch between strategic perspectives and operational details—and enjoy a role where you can combine independent responsibility with close collaboration. You are analytical and meticulous but also pragmatic with a can-do attitude. You like pace, take responsibility, and drive issues independently from analysis to implementation.
