Religious and Psychology Teacher Position for Basic Education and High School - Parkanon kaupunki - Parkano, Finland

The City of Parkano's Education Department announces an open position for a permanent religious and psychology teacher for both basic education and high school, starting August 1, 2026. The teaching hours are approximately split between grades 7-9 and high school. The position requires qualification according to the Decree on Qualifications for Teaching Staff 986/1998. Salary is determined according to OVTES. The role includes teaching religion (9 hours/week) for grades 7-9 and religion and psychology in high school. There may also be opportunities to teach life philosophy. The teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing instruction in accordance with the curriculum. Good pedagogical and interaction skills, the ability to support diverse learners, and proficiency with digital teaching tools and methods are required. The school is a unified school with approximately 500 students and a high school with about 85 students, located in modern shared facilities at the school and cultural campus in Kaarna. Parkano High School offers a diverse curriculum and Erasmus+ accreditation. The high school community is professional, student-centered, and open to development. The school uses a variety of digital, printed, and hands-on teaching materials. Students have personal Chromebooks from grade 3 onwards. Both students and staff use Desku online workspace to facilitate digital work. To confirm employment, the selected candidate must provide a health statement (KVhL 7 §) within 30 days of the decision. The employment is subject to a 6-month probation period.
