Job Description
The basic education department of the City of Parainen, at Koivuha School, has a fixed-term position available for a special class teacher in a special education class from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. We are seeking a skilled and open-minded special class teacher who works with a flexible and positive attitude. We offer a position at Koivuha School, where you will be part of a cheerful and supportive work community. Koivuha School is a Finnish-speaking primary school with approximately 200 students, located in the city center. You will work as a partner with a classroom teacher in a class with students from grades 4-6. The group is a so-called flexible small group: some students in the special class are integrated into general education classes in subjects such as skills and arts. Flexibility is also needed in the other direction, meaning support can be provided to general education classes if necessary. The classroom team also includes a school assistant and a personal assistant for one student. Collaboration and interaction skills are central in this working model, where two teachers share responsibility for the student group. The work includes assessing needs, planning and implementing group-specific and individual support, and guiding staff in special education work. We hope you have an open and empathetic attitude and the ability to act quickly in changing situations. Prior experience in small group teaching and strong competence in neurodiverse students are considered an advantage. We also value flexibility and good teamwork skills with the work community, guardians, and student welfare services. Qualifications are in accordance with current legislation and the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (986/1998). The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract within 30 days of the decision being communicated. Relevant educational and work certificates should be attached to the application. In Parainen, we have five Finnish-speaking primary schools and one high school, which work closely with the city’s Swedish-speaking schools. We invest in education and can offer a forward-looking work community. The schools actively participate in development work and regional projects. The City of Parainen offers diverse employment benefits, including: - Epassi 135 euros in 2026 for sports, culture, and wellness services - Recreation funds to promote workplace community - Occupational health and wellness investments Come and help shape the future with us!
