Primary School Teacher, subject taught: Student Guidance - Kotkan kaupunki - Kotka, Finland

The Kotka Education Department is seeking a primary school teacher for the subject of student guidance, to be filled for an indefinite period starting August 1, 2026. The first placement of the position is at Langinkoski School. Langinkoski Comprehensive School is a sports-oriented school with approximately 500 students. In addition to general education classes, the school has special classes, small groups, a flexible basic education group, and a preparatory education group for students in grades 6-9. We are looking for an inspiring and development-oriented student guidance counselor with good collaboration skills, a student welfare and community-oriented approach, strong ICT skills, and a desire to learn new things. We value flexibility, initiative, the ability to work well with diverse people, and willingness to teach students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. We also expect the applicant to have a broad understanding of further education opportunities and work-life requirements, as well as an interest and professionalism in developing and implementing student guidance. Qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (986/98). Certificates demonstrating qualifications will be checked during the possible interview. The selected candidate must provide a satisfactory health statement and a criminal background check related to work with children and young people (504/2002) before the appointment is confirmed. The position is subject to a six (6) month probation period. Salary and working hours are determined according to the municipal collective agreement for the education sector. The task-specific salary for a qualified teacher in Kotka education department is €3,748.87/month, excluding possible overtime and annual bonuses.
