Vaalan Prison, part of the Northern Finland Criminal Sanctions Centre of the Criminal Sanctions Agency, is a 100-bed closed prison for men, where sentences of imprisonment, investigation, and fines are enforced. Approximately 70 professionals from various fields work at Vaalan Prison. Our focus is on the safe enforcement of sentences, impactful close work with inmates, and other rehabilitative activities to prevent reoffending. As a prison guard, your duties include ensuring daily operations within the prison. You are responsible for safety and rule compliance. Your tasks include a wide range of duties within the prison and, when necessary, transportation and supervision outside the prison. In addition to surveillance, you serve as a daily support for inmates and guide them systematically towards a crime-free life. The role emphasizes active interaction with inmates. Working as a prison guard allows you to make a genuine impact on the clientele and contribute to societal safety by influencing reoffending.
