Job Description

We are seeking a childcare worker for a fixed-term position at Tuohimäki Daycare. Our daycare has four different groups in the fall, with children from under 3 years old to preschool age. Due to upcoming renovations starting in Tuohimäki, we will move to temporary premises in Niittykumpu's old daycare building during the summer, and operations will begin there on August 3, 2026. In the upcoming operational period, you will work in a 2-3-year-old group alongside a teacher and another childcare worker. As a childcare worker in early childhood education, you will be responsible, together with your team, for the care, upbringing, and supervision of children, as well as guiding activities for the child group. The most important part of your work is to ensure the well-being of children in all everyday situations. At Tuohimäki, it is important for us to operate as a community, working and learning together. Positive pedagogy is reflected in our daily interactions between children and adults. We pay special attention to encouraging speech — noticing the good in children and verbalizing it. We observe children’s interests and aim to incorporate these into daily and pedagogical planning. Playfulness, joy, and laughter are part of our everyday life. Our team consists of skilled and versatile educators and childcare workers at different stages of their careers. We value each individual bringing their strengths to the community and also participate in joint events for the entire daycare. We are a humorous, creative, and idea-rich team that also strives for a positive working atmosphere. Our temporary premises are centrally located near Niittykumpu shopping center and metro station. We regularly explore the local environment and actively utilize cultural and sports services in the Tapiola area. Workplace name and address: Tuohimäki Daycare, Kappelirinne 1, 02200 Espoo. Working hours: 38 hours 15 minutes/week The position is fixed-term from August 17, 2026, to December 31, 2026. We will consider all applications received during the application period. We may process applications and conduct interviews during the application period. The final decision will be made after the application period ends and interviews are completed. Eligibility requirement: Qualification in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018, Section 28, Regulation 753/2018, Sections 3 and 4). Suitable educational background includes a basic qualification in education and guidance, social and health care qualification, or other comparable degree, including or supplemented with extensive studies in child care, upbringing, and education. Examples include childcare worker, daycare worker, and practical nurse (child and youth care program). We require good teamwork and interaction skills, as well as a sensitive approach when working with children. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by the Criminal Records Act (6.2 §). The Infectious Diseases Act requires those working with preschool children to assess tuberculosis transmission risk. We value flexibility in changing situations and a desire to develop high-quality early childhood education together with the team. We also appreciate diverse skills and previous experience in early childhood education. Welcome to join us in nurturing a responsible and caring new generation!
