Job Description
We are expanding Kriivari School during 2024 - 2026. As the school grows, we need more classroom teachers. The position of full-time classroom teacher (class teacher) at Paimio will be filled starting August 1, 2026, on an indefinite basis. The placement at the start of employment is Kriivari School: a two-stream school for grades 1 - 6, which is expanding to include grades 1 - 6, with 185 students next fall and a school extension and renovation project underway. The Paimio Education Committee has approved the development plan for learning support for 2022 - 2026. This plan guides us systematically towards an inclusive school in all our basic education schools. Support is provided close to students at local schools. We are seeking a responsible, development-oriented, and collaborative classroom teacher. We want to recruit a team player who is willing to implement co-teaching and develop learning support models by working closely with other teachers. The qualification requirement for a full-time classroom teacher is based on the Teaching Staff Qualification Act (986/1998) sections 4 and 9. We are especially looking for a candidate with broad early education skills, including experience with transition cooperation with preschool education. Experience in teaching music and crafts, with strong subject knowledge, is considered an advantage. Since we work in teams, previous experience in co-teaching and teamwork is an advantage. Our school operates on a local school principle, and inclusive education is essential for its success. Experience in developing the work community culture is also considered an advantage. Kriivari’s learning environment includes the school’s own forest. Experience in outdoor pedagogy and managing diverse experiential learning methods is seen as a strength. Kriivari is a flexible school, and we use restorative conflict resolution methods (VERSO and RESTO). Additionally, we are a ProSchool. We offer an enthusiastic and development-oriented educational organization with a positive working atmosphere. Paimio provides good conditions for educational activities, with school buildings systematically renovated, and excellent sports facilities. Staff benefits include free access to the swimming hall and gym for city employees. We also have sports and cultural benefits. Paimio is part of the Turku metropolitan area’s FÖLI public transport network. Kriivari School is approximately 1.5 km from the Turku-Helsinki motorway junction (11), making it easily accessible by car. The selected candidate must, within 30 days of receiving the employment decision, submit an acceptable medical certificate of health and a criminal record extract as required by law (504/2002 § 3) before accepting the position. The position has a six-month probation period. We prefer applications submitted electronically via the Kuntarekry.fi service. The application deadline is May 29, 2025, at 16:00. Interviews will be held in Paimio on Monday, June 8, 2026, between 9:00 and 16:00 (week 24).
