Unit Supervisor, Safe House Imatra - Etelä-Karjalan hyvinvointialue - Lappeenranta, Finland

Are you interested in doing meaningful work to help those who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing domestic violence and leading a knowledgeable team? We are looking for a permanent social worker who also functions as the supervisor of the safe house for the South Karelia Wellbeing Services Area starting from 1.7.2026 or by agreement. As a social worker, you will work at the safe house with clients who have experienced or are at risk of domestic violence. You will be responsible for managing the client process of the safe house service, including assessing clients' situations, mapping needs, and developing safety plans together with clients. You will collaborate closely with authorities and other networks, document client work, and guide clients to appropriate further services. The role includes managerial responsibilities for daily operations, personnel management, and development of the safe house service, organizing work, and leading the team purposefully. You will ensure staff orientation, skills development, and well-being, and support a functional work community. Additionally, you will monitor and develop the quality and economy of operations, and be responsible for reporting and evaluation. We wish you to have experience in crisis work or work with families, and interest and ability for managerial tasks. A trust-based working approach, good communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to meet people respectfully in challenging life situations are valued. Experience in domestic violence work, trauma-informed approaches, and multidisciplinary network cooperation are advantageous. Experience in managerial work and leading daily operations inclusively is also beneficial. You succeed if you work development-oriented and solution-focused, and can act flexibly and independently in changing situations. Good organizational and cooperation skills and a desire to develop operations together with the work community are appreciated. The qualification required is a social worker qualification under the Social Welfare Act (817/2015, §7) and a license and supervision from the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health. Fluent Finnish is required, other languages are an advantage. The selected person must present a medical certificate of health within 30 days of the decision. The role requires vaccination against infectious diseases according to the Infectious Diseases Act §48. The wellbeing area uses an infection safety questionnaire, which is completed by all who will work with or intern in patient care.
