Job Description
Would you like to work in the specialized field of child psychiatry? We are seeking a nurse for a fixed-term position from August 10, 2026, to January 20, 2027, at HUS Child Psychiatry Department. The work location is in Helsinki at the Good Mind Hospital (Kivelä Hospital area). The work is mainly two-shift work on weekdays, which may include night shifts. The work begins on August 10, 2026, or by agreement. Interviews will start during the application period. Our unit is responsible for the psychiatric care of children aged 6–13 in the HUS area, where other child psychiatric care has not been sufficient. We treat patients with complex neuropsychiatric or other severe child psychiatric symptoms. Child care is provided as a multidisciplinary collaboration. The responsible nurse partner coordinates the child's care and is responsible for daily care planning, implementation, and evaluation with the support of a multidisciplinary team. Child care is planned and implemented in cooperation with the child's parents and network. Our unit uses the AVEKKI operational model for the prevention and management of challenging situations. We hope you have previous experience in psychiatric or neuropsychiatric nursing, family- and network-centered work, child protection, or adolescent or adult psychiatric nursing. We expect the applicant to have good knowledge of child psychiatry as a specialty. A development-oriented work attitude is also desired. Eligibility requirements for the position: Licensed nurse. We require vaccination against infectious diseases according to the Communicable Diseases Act for those working in customer and patient facilities, and a health status report regarding tuberculosis for those working in healthcare units. Proficiency in Finnish (good spoken and written skills) and satisfactory proficiency in Swedish (spoken and written skills), or good Swedish (spoken and written skills) and satisfactory Finnish (spoken and written skills). The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by the Criminal Records Act (770/1993) section 6, subsection 2, for those working with children.
