In our special work, no one is left alone. The starting point is that the child and their family are actively and equally involved in planning their own life. The behavior of children with serious symptoms is based on reasons that are taken into account in their care and education. We work closely with other authorities and various actors and participate in societal influence. The work is demanding, but difficult situations are overcome together. The State Residential Schools are the national service provider for demanding foster care and basic education with special support. The operation of the State Residential Schools is regulated by law under the Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) concerning child protection units (1379/2010). THL and the Ministry of Education are responsible for the outcome management of the residential school operations and education organized in residential schools. We are now looking for a suitable higher education graduate to join our team as a Special Education Supervisor. Suitable degrees include, for example, Bachelor of Social Services (AMK), Registered Nurse, or Community Pedagogue. There are 10 vacancies. The Special Education Supervisor cares for, educates, and guides children placed in their unit in collaboration with multidisciplinary staff. They are responsible for ensuring that care and upbringing meet individual goals and the models of the State Residential Schools. The supervisor ensures the smooth daily operation by guiding children according to their individual abilities. They document in the customer information system and prepare necessary documents in the manner agreed upon in the unit. The supervisor is responsible for the safety of children and the community by creating a stabilizing atmosphere and acting according to agreed rules to prevent violence, bullying, and harassment. They handle critical situations as needed and carry out restrictions in accordance with child protection law. The work includes domestic tasks.
