Job Description
We are currently seeking an active and versatile psychologist for a parental leave substitute position in the Akaa and Urjala areas. The placement is in Lempäälä, where other public health psychologists work, but outreach days to the service area are scheduled twice a week. The role of the public health psychologist is to support maternal and child health clinics in promoting the well-being of pregnant women, children under preschool age, and their families. The work aims at early intervention and prevention of problems, providing guidance, discussion support, and care at low threshold. Key tasks include prevention and treatment of mood disorders activated during pregnancy or postpartum, support and treatment of early interaction and parenting, parenting guidance and counseling, assessment and investigation of children’s developmental issues, and participation in planning rehabilitation and support measures. Experience in addressing psychological challenges during pregnancy and infancy, supporting parenthood, and working with children’s assessments is considered an advantage. Additional training related to the role is also valued. The work requires the ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams, as well as good interaction skills. Success in the role also depends on good organizational skills, flexibility, collaboration skills, and a desire to develop in diverse tasks. The position is fixed-term, starting on August 10, 2026, and continuing until May 14, 2027. It is full-time, daytime work, with a weekly working time of 37 hours and 45 minutes. The trial period is four months. Interviews are planned to be conducted in the afternoon of June 9, 2026, and in the morning of June 15, 2026.
