Special Education Teacher: Supported Special Class, Pihlajamäki Elementary School - Helsingin kaupunki - Helsinki, Finland

We are looking for a special education teacher for a supported special class at Pihlajamäki Elementary School. The students are directed to the class city-wide. The class has 8 primary school students who need strong multidisciplinary support for learning, behavioral management, and school attendance. Students study according to the general curriculum or with limited scope if necessary. They require full-time special class teaching. Teaching is carried out in close cooperation within a team of three adults (special class teacher, special education teacher, and school assistant). The special education teacher also participates in multidisciplinary network work, including psychiatric care, as a partner to the special class teacher. The role emphasizes: the ability to plan and implement individual teaching, strong interaction and teamwork skills, and readiness to work in multidisciplinary cooperation (guardians, specialized medical care, social services, and therapists). Students have a treatment relationship with specialized medical care, and daily work combines pedagogical skills with rehabilitative work. We collaborate with general education teachers and integrate students into other classes. We offer meaningful and close support in a demanding but rewarding job.
