Job Description
The Education and Training Department of the City of Kerava is seeking a fixed-term, part-time native language teacher (Finnish Romani language) starting from August 12, 2026. Your tasks will include: We are looking for an enthusiastic, development-oriented, and cooperative professional in native language teaching. The lessons will be scheduled for grades 1 through 9. You will teach Finnish Romani language as a native language at various schools in Kerava for grades 1 to 9, and you may need to move between schools on the same day. Each class group consists of students from different grade levels with varying levels of knowledge and skills. During the 2026-2027 school year, there will be 2 teaching hours per week. Experience in similar roles, familiarity with functional teaching methods, and good ICT skills are considered an advantage. Applicants should demonstrate motivation and readiness to develop inclusion and the school’s operational culture. Success in the role requires excellent oral and written skills in Finnish. Qualifications are based on the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (986/1998). Salary and other terms of employment are determined according to OVTES. A six-month probation period applies. If qualified applicants are not available, other candidates will also be considered. The selected candidate must provide a satisfactory health certificate and a criminal record extract related to work with children, as required by law (504/2002 and 770/1993, section 6, paragraph 2).
