The librarian's responsibility is collaboration with primary schools. In your work, you will promote reading skills among primary school children, collaborate with local schools, host school groups, and provide book recommendations for children. You are interested in working in a multilingual environment, able to engage with children from diverse backgrounds, and consider different literacy levels. You are familiar with children's literature and willing to actively develop your skills. You will cooperate with other Vantaa libraries and participate in developing school cooperation across the city as needed. You are creative, flexible, and communicate fluently both verbally and in writing. You enjoy customer service and can handle unexpected situations or a sometimes busy environment. You are organized and able to work independently. The librarian also participates in daily customer service and logistics. The work includes evening and weekend shifts. Myyrmäki Library is Vantaa's second largest, busy, and lively. It is located in Myyrmäki House, a cultural and multi-purpose center in the western districts of Vantaa, next to Myyrmanni shopping center. The libraries of Mosaiikki, Martinlaakso, Myyrmäki, Point, and Pähkinärinne form the western team of Vantaa library services. The selected candidate will primarily work at Myyrmäki Library but may also work at other Vantaa library units as needed. Vantaa City Library's mission is to promote all literacy skills. Employment details Qualifications: Suitable higher education degree In addition to the qualification, we require: good spoken and written Finnish skills and experience in children's library work. Advantages: library education, experience in customer service, and working in a multilingual environment. Terms of employment are governed by the Municipal General Collective Agreement (KVTES). Salary: €2962.25/month, with possible additional pay based on previous experience.
