Job Description

Your work involves comprehensive duties as a special education teacher in early childhood education at Aarrekartta Daycare in Kurttila. Kurttila is located in a quiet residential area near the forest, and it takes about 15 minutes to walk to the seaside. Aarrekartta Daycare is a relatively new facility that opened in October 2024. It has eight children’s groups and approximately 150 children. In addition to Aarrekartta Daycare, your responsibilities include a small private daycare nearby. As a comprehensive early childhood education special education teacher, you will serve as a pedagogical expert in one or more early childhood education units or groups, working alongside the unit leader. You will participate in co-teaching in children’s groups, enhancing staff’s special pedagogical expertise. When necessary, you will assist in preparing early childhood education and/or preschool learning plans and other pedagogical documents from a special education perspective. You will be responsible for ensuring effective support collaboration with guardians and will conduct guardians’ meetings and prepare administrative decision proposals. Additionally, you will engage in multidisciplinary and network cooperation. Your role offers opportunities to meet other comprehensive early childhood education special education teachers at regional and Espoo-level meetings. The Espoo early childhood education plan and the national early childhood education plan guide all our daily activities. Observation, documentation, continuous assessment, and development of activities are integral parts of your work. Our community values humor, common sense, and reliability. Interviews will be held between June 22-25, 2026, or August 3-7, 2026. Workplace name and address: Aarrekartta Daycare, Aarrekartantie 4, 02780 Espoo. Working hours: 38 hours and 15 minutes per week. The position is temporary, from August 17, 2026, to February 21, 2027. Qualifications: Qualification according to the Finnish Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). Qualification as an early childhood education teacher, with completed studies in special education. or Master’s degree in Education with a major in special pedagogy (early childhood special education teacher training). Applicants who are about to graduate in early childhood education special education are also considered. The role requires good interaction and teamwork skills, as well as experience working with children needing support. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as defined by the Criminal Records Act (6.2 §). The Infectious Diseases Act requires those working with preschool children to clarify tuberculosis exposure risk.
