Job Description

South Savo Welfare Area Eloisa is seeking a family worker for a permanent position in enhanced family work starting from 1.7.2026 or as agreed. The workplace at the start of employment is Mikkeli, and work may extend to the Mikkeli sub-region and Juva. The family worker's tasks include planned and goal-oriented work with children and families in child protection cases. The aim is to ensure children's growth conditions, support parents in their educational role, and strengthen the family's own resources. Supporting interaction among family members through various activities, practicing everyday skills, and establishing a regular daily rhythm are fundamental to family rehabilitation. The family worker works in the family's home, in daily life, and within their network. The work may occasionally include evenings and weekends according to family needs. The family worker independently arranges meetings together with families. The work is carried out in collaboration with a broad multidisciplinary network. The team includes four social workers, two social pedagogy professionals, and four other family workers. Challenging and difficult family situations require the worker to understand the importance of interaction and to have skills to work with diverse issues and phenomena. The work is flexible, responding to client needs and considering the wishes and strengths of the employees. We support professional development through training and supervision. We offer interesting tasks in a competent work community. Employee well-being is supported through occupational health services, and we promote leisure activities with staff benefits for sports and cultural hobbies. Qualifications include a Bachelor of Social Services or a previous vocational qualification, and licensure according to the Act on Social Welfare Professionals (817/2015). Experience in child protection work and working with children, youth, and families is an advantage. A valid driver’s license and access to a car are essential. Good oral and written Finnish language skills are also required. The position requires vaccination against infectious diseases as per section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a health statement regarding respiratory tuberculosis as per section 55. Working with children requires a criminal record extract as per law 504/2002 before starting work. The employment relationship includes a six (6) month probation period.
