Job Description

Welcome to our team at the Eastern and Northern Lapland Family Center, serving families with children! Our inspiring and collaborative team is looking for a strong family work professional who supports families with everyday challenges and works closely with other professionals. The work begins on August 17, 2026, or by agreement. Key tasks for a family worker include family work, intensified family work, professional support relationships, as well as supervised and supported meetings and exchanges. The role involves home visits to families with children and working as a partner to social workers. The aim of family work is to strengthen family resources, parenting, and support internal family interactions. The work is mobile and performed at families' homes, in activity environments, and networks. The working hours for a family worker may vary between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Mainly, work is done on weekdays, but occasional shifts on weekends may be required depending on the family’s situation. The primary work location is Kemijärvi, but work may also be carried out elsewhere within the service area. We offer: - Weekly team meetings, support from immediate supervisors, and needs-based supervision. - A task-specific salary of €3,008.20/month. - Flexibility in work, including flexible working hours. We require: - A suitable university of applied sciences degree (e.g., social services). If no qualified applicants are available, the position can be temporarily filled for up to one year with a person studying a relevant university of applied sciences degree. - A driver’s license and access to a personal car. - Excellent Finnish language skills. We value: - Work experience in services for families with children. - Good cooperation and interaction skills, as well as the ability to work independently. - Methodological expertise, e.g., talking to children, neurodiversity guidance, substance abuse, and psychiatric knowledge. The employment relationship is governed by the SOTE agreement. The position is subject to a 6-month probationary period. We follow the law on vaccination protection for personnel and infectious disease law. The selected candidate must provide a criminal record extract as required by the law on background checks for those working with children (504/2002).
