Job Description
The Energy Industry Association (ET) is an advocacy organization for the energy sector, focusing on economic and labor market policies. ET represents companies that produce, procure, transmit, and sell electricity, gas, district heating, and district cooling, as well as related services. ET handles collective bargaining for its member companies' personnel, provides advice and training, conducts research, and disseminates information. The organization has 60 experts working in a comfortable office in Helsinki city center, Eteläranta. ET is seeking a Nuclear Energy Expert for the Sustainable Growth unit for a fixed-term position. We are looking for a nuclear energy expert for a one-year fixed-term role in energy sector advocacy and influence work. The selected candidate should start preferably in August 2026. The contract runs until July 31, 2027. The role involves engaging with key legislation and policy issues related to nuclear energy in Finland, the EU, and Nordic cooperation. As a nuclear energy expert, you will serve as secretary for the Nuclear Energy Committee, ensuring smooth preparation and coordination of committee work. Your responsibilities include planning and implementing influence strategies, monitoring a dedicated budget, and preparing the 2027 operational plan. Additionally, you will act as secretary for the SMR Working Group and support preparatory expert work. The role involves actively following the finalization of nuclear energy law reforms and participating in government program influence activities in collaboration with the Nuclear Energy Committee. The position also includes EU-level expert and influence work. You will represent the organization in advocating for the EU’s 2040 climate framework, ensuring nuclear energy is considered in climate policy. International cooperation with partner organization Swedenergy is central, with two meetings annually: one in Helsinki or Stockholm and another in Brussels. Your tasks include strengthening the knowledge base related to nuclear energy. You will coordinate the preparation and publication of a survey on attitudes towards nuclear power in spring 2027. As an expert at the Energy Industry Association, you will also write statements and recommendations, represent your employer, and speak at various events. You will actively participate in a broad stakeholder network, including the Nuclear Energy Committee, SMR Working Group, Swedenergy, ministries, authorities, research institutions, Finnish organizations, and European umbrella organizations such as Eurelectric, Nucleareurope, and Euroheat & Power. Your role involves attending meetings, conferences, and events, as well as supporting communication with stakeholders. We expect you to have a relevant higher education degree, a good understanding of nuclear energy regulation and energy policy, and experience in expert, preparatory, or advocacy roles. Valued skills include interaction, curiosity, proactivity, influence, and the ability to manage broad issues. You should be well-organized, proactive, and capable of handling practical arrangements. Proficiency in Finnish and English, both spoken and written, is required, along with the ability to travel occasionally within Finland, Sweden, and Brussels.
