Job Description
We are seeking a full-time early childhood education teacher for a permanent position starting August 10, 2026. Our daycare has seven different groups, ranging from small preschoolers to older children. Each group is staffed with two teachers and one child caregiver. Initially, your role will be in a 21-child preschool group. There is an option to work at 80% for at least the autumn semester. As an early childhood education teacher, you will be responsible for the pedagogical guidance of the children’s group and implement activities according to the preschool curriculum in collaboration with your team. Together with other team members, you will ensure that children experience moments of wonder, insight, and learning. Your team includes a qualified teacher and two qualified child caregivers. Opinmäki Daycare is a Finnish-speaking facility, but we are a multilingual and multicultural community. Language support and language skills development are among our main goals. We value positive and respectful encounters with every child and adult. We also welcome student placements and are a practice daycare for the University of Helsinki. If these aspects excite you, you would be an excellent fit for us. Our team at Opinmäki includes 13 early childhood education teachers, a special education teacher, a broad-based special needs teacher, a language and culture teacher, 8 child caregivers, and 2 substitutes. We are a humorous, relaxed, and accepting community. Colleague support and assistance are readily available. We look forward to having you as a colleague! We offer a mentoring program to support your start as an early childhood education teacher. With the help of the mentoring group, you will become familiar with Espoo’s early childhood education practices and learn to recognize your strengths and skills. This will also contribute to your professional growth and well-being at work. You will have the opportunity to discuss the joys and challenges of early career with an experienced mentor and connect with other early childhood education teachers who are just starting out.
