Maintenance Technician

Vaasan Oy is a Finnish bakery company employing around 520 people. Our history goes back to 1849, making us Finland’s oldest nationwide bakery operator. We bake beloved loaves in four bakeries across the country and also in the Baltic states. Our owner, through Lantmännen Unibake, is part of the Swedish farmer-owned multi-business group Lantmännen, one of Europe’s largest players in bioenergy, machinery, agriculture, and food. As a Maintenance Technician, you will primarily be responsible for preventive maintenance of production equipment and maintenance work related to mechanical and electrical automation. Your day may include parts and bearing replacements, equipment servicing, fault finding and repair in cooperation with production and other maintenance teams. You will also operate and perform daily maintenance tasks in the maintenance system. You will work as part of the maintenance team, but close cooperation with production is an important part of your day. Together you ensure that bakery production equipment and processes run as smoothly and safely as possible. The work is largely independent with individual areas of responsibility, but the team’s support and expertise are always close by. You will work at the Vantaa plant in a 3/5 shift system, with morning, evening, and night shifts. Weekend work is included, and the shift rotation includes longer休休 periods. What we are looking for: a suitable electrical or automation sector training and approximately 1–3 years of practical experience in mechanical maintenance and working with electrical automation. In addition to mechanical maintenance, emphasis on electrical automation skills and readiness to perform electrical work within your qualifications. We are looking for someone who has solid fundamentals in maintenance, can take on various maintenance and fault situations independently. A long career in the field is not required; the most important is the willingness to learn and develop. Electrical qualifications are a plus but not required. Proficiency in Finnish is a must for the role, and English proficiency is also required. Willingness to work in shifts and to work on weekends is expected. Your attitude should be open, eager to learn, and calm even in unexpected situations. You should be able to work independently, make decisions and solve problems, but also effectively use team support when needed. You value resilience under pressure and maintaining momentum when production faces unforeseen events.
