Social Worker, South Adult Social Work - Helsingin kaupunki - Helsinki, Finland

We are hiring a permanent social worker for the South adult social work starting from September 1, 2026. The South adult social work team 1 includes five social workers, eleven social instructors, and a leading social worker. We serve residents of the Kallio, Pasila, Vallila, Alppiharju, Käpylä, Arabianranta, and Kalasatama areas. The position involves working with clients over 30 years old with special support needs, acting as a primary worker under social welfare law. Tasks include needs assessment, planned client work, processing discretionary social assistance, and other individual care decision-making, as well as participating in team social work and guidance activities. The work is mainly planned but includes emergency elements requiring quick and flexible responses. The role encourages network cooperation, social reporting, participation in events, engagement with third sector organizations, and social media influence. Close collaboration with other teams and health, psychiatric, and substance abuse services is expected. Interviews are scheduled for June 11 and 15, 2026, at Kalasatama health and well-being center. The qualification requirement is a social worker license according to the Social Welfare Professionals Act 817/2015, section 7, and a license from the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira). Good Finnish and satisfactory Swedish language skills are required. Vaccination against infectious diseases and tuberculosis screening are mandatory. The candidate must provide a occupational health assessment. Temporary employment for up to one year is possible for students who have completed basic and advanced social work studies and practical training, or those with suitable university or higher education degrees in social sciences or social and health care, with relevant practical experience. Additional requirements include the ability to work independently and systematically, good cooperation, teamwork, and communication skills, understanding of social welfare processes and laws, resilience, flexibility, and ability to work multi-locationally. Prior experience in adult social work, familiarity with Helsinki’s service system, South Helsinki area knowledge, experience in multi-professional networks, proficiency with the Apotti system, interest in developing social services, and social media skills are considered advantages.
