Job Description

We are actively developing outpatient mental health services for families with children. The Family Intensive Unit provides intensive, targeted, and goal-oriented family-level treatment episodes. Pirha has two family intensive units operating in Valkeakoski and Ylöjärvi. The future goal is for these two units to be located in Tampere by spring 2027, according to preliminary plans. We are seeking an occupational therapist for a fixed-term position until October 31, 2026. The family intensive units offer specialized and intensive support to families with minor children, where significant stressors or challenges in mental health or functioning are observed or suspected. The service is aimed at families who have not received sufficient help despite previous support measures. Family-level challenges are described as demanding and complex. The work is based on multidisciplinary collaboration both within the unit and extensively across social and health services networks. The unit’s expert team includes two child psychiatrists, an adult psychiatrist, two psychologists, four nurses, two social workers, and an occupational therapist. The role requires recognition of development and challenges in children, adolescents, and families, as well as solid knowledge of assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation. Experience as an expert in multidisciplinary teams and familiarity with service networks and legislation are also required. Main tasks of the occupational therapist in the family intensive unit include: - Individual, family, and network-focused work, planning support measures, and home-based work if necessary. - Screening and assessment of parents, children, and adolescents’ mental well-being and functioning. Assessment methods include BOT-2, SPM-2, Beery VMI, MOHOST, and OSA. - Providing psychosocial support to families. - Multidisciplinary teamwork as a key working method. - Developing multidisciplinary network cooperation, coordinating unit activities, and developing group therapeutic treatment models in collaboration with the Ylöjärvi family intensive unit. We offer: - Diverse work in a multidisciplinary community - Orientation to the job and use of necessary information systems - Employee benefits such as sports, culture, commuting, and well-being benefits, which can be tailored to your preferences. Our occupational health services are provided at Pirha. More about salary and employee benefits: https://www.pirha.fi/tietoa-meista/toihin-meille/palkkaus-ja-henkilostoedut. We expect: - Independent work approach - Good social skills both within the work community and in customer service - Development-oriented attitude, good cooperation skills, and flexibility. The qualification requirement is a licensed occupational therapist in Finland. We prefer candidates with experience working with children and families. A neuropsychiatric trainer qualification and experience in mental health and/or psychiatric work are considered an advantage. The work begins in August 2026, by agreement. It is full-time day work. The trial period is up to half of the employment period. Before accepting the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal record extract issued according to section 6, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Records Act. The job requires a valid B-class driver’s license and access to a car. Interviews are planned for June 11-12, 2026.
