Job Description
The psychiatric prison hospital is an acute hospital serving all prisons, with units in Turku and Vantaa. The psychiatric prison hospital provides comprehensive treatment for patients suffering from conditions such as psychosis, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders. Additionally, the wards conduct forensic psychiatric examinations, including mental state assessments, risk assessments for violent behavior among life-sentenced prisoners, and evaluations of treatment needs for sexual offenders. The Turku unit is responsible for psychiatric care of prisoners in need of treatment regardless of their prison. The social worker functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team and collaborates with other authorities, the patient's relatives, and welfare regions. The social worker's task is to map and assess the patient's social situation and to organize necessary support and services together with the patient and the multidisciplinary team.
