Temporary position for a basic education teacher (biology and geography) - Kauniaisten kaupunki - Kauniainen, Finland

We are looking for an enthusiastic biology and geography teacher for a temporary position at Kauniainen's primary school, Kasavuori teaching point (grades 7-9). The position is from August 7, 2026, to June 5, 2027, and is based on a substitute arrangement. Student-centered approach and the well-being of all members of the school community, as well as respectful and friendly interaction, are important to us. We aim to support each student's growth, learning, and well-being so that they have strong roots and wings for a good life. Our development themes include support for learning and strengthening basic skills, well-being, language, cultural and worldview awareness, and building a sustainable future. Annually, we implement the Green Grain sustainability challenge as a multidisciplinary learning module for grades 5 and 8. The qualification requirement is compliance with the qualification criteria for education personnel as per decree 986/1998. Original certificates demonstrating qualification must be presented at the possible interview. If no formally qualified applicants are available, the position may be filled with applicants who lack formal qualifications. We require excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as strong expertise in the taught subjects. A four (4) month probationary period will be observed in filling the position. The selected person must present a criminal record extract concerning work with children and young people, as required by the Criminal Records Act (504/2002), before starting employment. Experience and enthusiasm for co-teaching, implementing multidisciplinary learning modules, and knowledge of current legislation regarding forms of learning support are considered an advantage.
