Export Control Specialist - Bittium Oyj - Oulu, Finland

Defence & Security business unit is growing and we are strengthening our export control and logistics team. We are looking for an experienced Export Control Specialist. In this role, you ensure that our top-tier telecommunications and security solutions comply with international trade regulations, including EU dual-use regulations and US export control regulations. Key responsibilities: - Permit process: Assess export permit needs and manage export permit applications with Finnish authorities (Ministry for Foreign Affairs/Ministry of Defence). - Compliance and reporting: Responsible for ensuring export data and official reporting to authorities. - Product classification: Perform product classifications (dual-use/defense equipment) and US export control jurisdiction assessments (ITAR/EAR). - Logistics and trade compliance: Support international logistics and trade to ensure compliant shipments and customs processes. - Documentation and development: Develop and maintain compliance processes, instructions, templates, and product-specific export control documentation. We expect from you: - A suitable university degree (e.g., law, business, logistics, or engineering). - At least 3–5 years of experience in export control, international trade, or global logistics, preferably from the defense, aviation, or telecommunications industry. - Strong understanding of international trade, customs procedures, and global supply chains. - Deep knowledge of EU dual-use regulations, sanctions regimes, and US export controls (EAR and ITAR). - Excellent communication skills in Finnish and English. - Proactive, analytical, and detail-oriented approach to work.
