Chief Physician of the Cardiology Department (Conservative Cardiology, Internal Medicine), Mikkeli - Etelä-Savon hyvinvointialue - Mikkeli, Finland

The South Savo Welfare Area Eloisa is seeking a chief physician for the conservative cardiology department for a permanent position in the internal medicine unit in Mikkeli, starting from May 2, 2026, or according to agreement. The internal medicine unit includes emergency services, an emergency ward, specialized care wards, and a monitoring unit. Outpatient services cover endocrinology and diabetes, cardiology, nephrology, and reumatology. The unit provides broad emergency and specialized care services. The chief physician of the cardiology department's responsibilities include outpatient work at the clinic. Additionally, there is an opportunity to care for heart patients in a conservative ward. Mikkeli Central Hospital is a level II hospital providing 24/7 emergency services, with separate soft tissue and orthopedic surgical emergency services. Internal medicine specialists are on duty in the internal medicine emergency department. Specialist doctors in internal medicine handle informal on-call duties, which can be participated in but are not mandatory. What do we offer? The eligibility requirement for the position is a license or permit to practice as a licensed medical professional as specified in the Health Care Professionals Act 559/94, and qualification as a cardiology specialist. Additionally, sufficient oral and written Finnish language skills are required for the job. The position requires vaccination against infectious diseases as per section 48 of the Infectious Diseases Act and a health status report regarding tuberculosis of the respiratory system as per section 55.
