Job Description
Loviisa is a charming seaside bilingual city characterized by small-town idyll. The city’s 12 primary schools and two high schools have approximately 150 teachers and 70 school assistants. Loviisa’s largest school, Harjurinne School, has about 530 students from preschool to ninth grade. The Loviisa high school operates in the same building. We are seeking a development-oriented and enthusiastic history and social studies teacher for a permanent position starting August 1, 2026. Teaching will focus on grades 7-9. You are expected to have a positive, student-centered, and active approach, as well as use diverse teaching and assessment methods. We offer a relaxed and active work community with enjoyable young people. Loviisa’s education services emphasize language awareness and learning support. Qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (1998/986 § 6). The City of Loviisa ensures staff well-being by paying teachers a salary above the salary scale and offering various benefits such as lunch and recreation benefits, sports groups, and free access to city gyms.
