Job Description
Kalajoki City Early Childhood Education Services is hiring ONE (1) permanent position for an Early Childhood Education Childcare Worker starting from August 17, 2026. The initial placement is at Satumajakka Daycare. Apply to become an early childhood education childcare worker and help build five-star early childhood education! The role requires good interaction and teamwork skills as well as a flexible work attitude. You will be responsible for addressing children's needs in daily activities and implementing pedagogically focused care, upbringing, and teaching together with other staff. We expect respectful interaction with children, families, and the work community, as well as strong knowledge of early childhood education and small group work. We value an inclusive approach to children and the ability to see each child as an individual. Important qualities include genuine presence, a positive attitude, and warm, encouraging interaction. Humor and well-being at work are also important parts of our daily routine. Our guiding values are presence, equality, and the child's best interest. Our daycare emphasizes small group activities, the value of play, and a respectful, safe, and accepting environment. Kalajoki is becoming more international, so proficiency in different languages is considered an advantage. Qualifications required are in accordance with the Finnish Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) §28; a relevant degree in education and guidance, social and health care, or an equivalent qualification. Since Satumajakka Daycare is a extended care unit, the employee must be able to work in two shifts. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract (Law 504/2002), a medical certificate of health, a statement regarding tuberculosis (Communicable Diseases Act §55), and original certificates of qualifications before starting. Employment terms follow the Municipal Sector General Collective Agreement (KVTES). A 6-month probation period applies. Applications are submitted electronically at www.kuntarekry.fi by August 2, 2026, at 18:00. For more information about the position, contact Satumajakka Daycare Director Satu Kanerva between June 22-30, 2026, and July 7-10, 2026, at satu.kanerva@kalajoki.fi or by phone at 044 4691 851. Inquiries by phone are welcome between 9-11 am.
