The position available is a fixed-term Special Education Teacher role in early childhood education for the southern area of the City of Oulu, at Merikotka Daycare. The position is from August 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. As a special education teacher, you will work at Merikotka Daycare in one group. In this role, you will be responsible for the group's activities in collaboration with the early childhood education teacher, nursery nurse, and special education nursery nurse. You will serve as a special education professional within the group. Special education teachers in the southern area form an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed team. New employees will be introduced to the role with support from supervisors and colleagues. In the unit, you represent a professional in special pedagogy and are a close part of the work community. Qualifications for the role include compliance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018, section 30), considering the transitional provisions for personnel (section 75). Additionally, a relevant specialization training according to regulation (608/2005, section 2) and a postgraduate degree or a master's degree in education with a major in special pedagogy are required. The salary for the special education teacher position is based on the job-specific pay system and levels of competence and responsibility, ranging from €3,124.05 to €3,239.10. The actual salary consists of the job-specific pay and possible other levels according to OVTES. Before accepting the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by law (504/2002) concerning working with children. According to the Infectious Diseases Act (55 §), the employer is responsible for requesting a reliable statement that the employee or intern does not have active tuberculosis. This must be provided before signing the employment contract. The position includes a trial period. Interviews will be held on June 4, 2026, between 8:00 and 16:00. A detailed schedule will be provided to shortlisted candidates. The interviews will take place at the Oulu 10 City Hall, address: Torikatu 10, Oulu.
