Job Description
We are hiring school assistants (2) for Ristin School starting August 3, 2026. The assistants will be assigned to two special classes for grades 1-6. Working hours are 25 hours per week. During the 2026-2027 school year, the scheduled hours are 28 hours per week. Additional hours may be available, for example, from afternoon club supervision duties. A special education school assistant is an adult who can support a student's growth and learning even in challenging situations. You maintain patience and act consistently even when a student's behavior is difficult or progress is slow. You are capable of handling restraint situations. You understand the emotions or needs behind behavior. You have the skill to read the classroom atmosphere and adapt your actions quickly as needed. You support the achievement of learning objectives. You act fairly and equitably. Working in a special class is teamwork, where seamless collaboration between the assistant and the teacher is crucial. The assistant participates in recess supervision, student transitions (e.g., taxi transports), and ensures the general safety of the school environment. The qualification requirement is the decree on the qualification requirements for education personnel 986/1998 http://www.finlex.fi/fi/laki/ajantasa/1998/19980986 The base salary is €1,674.56/month for a 25-hour workweek. In addition to the base salary, experience-based pay may be paid, up to a maximum of 8%. The position is subject to a six (6) month trial period. The employer will determine situations where the selected candidate must provide a health certificate from Keski-Uudenmaan Työterveys Oy, Lohja branch, within one month of starting employment. Additionally, a criminal background check as per law (504/2002) must be submitted. Interviews will be held in week 24.
