Job Description
Are you interested in advancing research on how value is created in networks and ecosystems and how innovations are commercialised in digital and technology-based business? This position offers the opportunity to conduct impactful research and contribute high-quality teaching in these themes. You will be part of an international academic community committed to scientific excellence and close collaboration with industry and other stakeholders. The professorship of value creation and innovation commercialisation is located at the LUT Business School (LBS). The position is based in Lahti, Finland. LUT Business School is a strong research unit of more than 25 full professors and altogether around 140 researchers. Our mission is to educate research-based and responsible business professionals in an inspirational learning community rooted in a university of technology. The vision of LBS is to drive a sustainable business revolution, powered by curious minds. Close collaboration with industry, combined with strong theoretical, analytical, and methodological expertise, constitutes a core strength of LBS. What we expect from you The professorship strengthens and complements the competences of the school by focusing on digital transformation, value creation, innovation commercialisation, and sustainable business development. The candidates must be able to teach and supervise students on these themes in our bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes. The field of the professorship includes two interrelated themes: value creation in networks and ecosystems innovation commercialisation in digital and technology-based business The candidates are expected to present strong international research merits in at least one of the above-mentioned areas. Expertise in both areas is considered an advantage. Experience in preparing and leading research projects with external funding – especially from the EU, the Research Council of Finland, and Business Finland – is considered an advantage. In addition, we value documented experience in successful teaching in a multicultural environment. Practical experience in the field is not a requirement in this position, but it is considered an advantage. In particular, experience in collaboration with companies, technology-based firms, SMEs, innovation ecosystems, public organisations, or development agencies is valued. Spoken and written fluency in English is required. What we offer you We are looking for a candidates who are inspired by LUT’s values and strategic focus on sustainability and motivated to advance high-impact international research. You will join LUT’s strong research community and work in an international, multidisciplinary academic environment. LUT Business School supports newly recruited tenure track staff by providing them with the support, resources, and research environments they need. For instance, this position includes the opportunity to recruit a fully funded junior researcher – a doctoral student – in the field of the professorship. The position is situated at the associate or full professor level of the tenure track system and will be filled through an open application process for a fixed term of four years (associate professor) or permanently (full professor). A six-month trial period applies. The salary is based on the Finnish university pay system’s scale for teaching and research staff. The pay will include an individual pay component based on performance and competence. The gross annual salary for an associate professor is approximately 69,500 euros, and that of a full professor, ranges from 72,300 to 107,100 euros, depending on qualifications and experience.
