Job Description

The City of Pietarsaari's Technical Services, Municipal Engineering Department, is recruiting an Infrastructure Inspector for a permanent position. As an Infrastructure Inspector, your work is creative, coordinating, and varied. You will have an overview of the entire excavation permit process and other permits for public areas, as well as their supervision. You will also be responsible for the city's stormwater system, including its operation, maintenance, and development. Additionally, the Infrastructure Inspector acts as the main user of the city's fault report system, Virhi, concerning streets, roads, and public areas. Other development projects in the department may arise, especially during winter. The position requires a suitable university of applied sciences degree, e.g., a construction master or civil engineer degree, in construction technology or other relevant field. The Pietarsaari region is a strong bilingual area, and good oral and written skills in Finnish and Swedish are required. Proficiency in English is considered an advantage. Experience and knowledge in the infrastructure sector are considered an asset. Strong IT skills are also valued. To succeed in this role, you should have: - Interest and expertise in the built environment, such as streets, roads, and bike paths, and their maintenance and restoration after work. - Strong service orientation, ability to work efficiently and independently as well as in a team. - Good communication and negotiation skills — ability to build and maintain relationships. - Precision, financial awareness in project monitoring, quality consciousness, and the ability to shift perspectives from the overall to the detailed level. The salary and other employment terms are determined according to the municipal technical personnel collective agreement (TS). The task-specific salary is 3482.72 euros/month, plus TS benefits. Working hours are 36.25 hours/week (office hours). The employment begins with a maximum of six (6) months probation. The start date is by agreement.
