Join our team! We are looking for a design engineer for our machine shop operations at Kivikko. Our production capacity has increased significantly, and we are now seeking a new experienced member for our design team. In our newly built machine shop in 2025, we manufacture parts and components related to tram infrastructure. Our main products are switch and intersection areas for tram traffic, which constitute most of the design work. The core tasks include 3D modeling, drawing up product and mechanical drawings, work instructions, material and subcontractor selection, factory testing (FAT) coordination, and acting as a contact person for designated projects. Additional responsibilities may include cost calculations, risk analysis, technical documentation, quality management, product modifications, production planning, process development, manufacturing theories, product portfolio expansion, and technical expertise in rail vehicle components, lifecycle management, welding, and standards such as VDV-Schrift 600. We expect at least 5+ years of experience in machine shop operations and design, proficiency in SolidWorks, technical education, good communication skills, understanding of technical systems, problem-solving ability, experience with production control systems, LEAN knowledge, good MS Office skills, and fluency in Finnish. Knowledge of tram standards, CAM programming, welding, assembly work, and safety card are advantageous.
