Teacher of Communication and Interaction Skills (English and Swedish) KAO Kuusamo - Kajaanin kaupunki

We are seeking an enthusiastic and development-oriented language teacher to join the team of subject teachers at Kainuu Vocational College's Kuusamo unit. The position is permanent, starting on August 1, 2026, or by agreement. The role involves competency-based teaching and guidance in areas such as communication and interaction in a foreign language (English) and communication and interaction in the native language (Swedish). Based on competence, there is also the possibility to teach other parts of the common curriculum. Teaching takes place for secondary vocational students across various fields at the Kuusamo campus and remotely across the Kainuu region. The teacher will be a member of the subject teachers' team. At Kainuu Vocational College, teaching and guidance are planned and implemented collaboratively, so good teamwork skills are valued. Flexibility, interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm for using diverse guidance methods in cooperation with the team and working life are appreciated. Proficiency in managing online teaching environments is required. Qualifications are based on the regulations for teaching staff (Government Decree 986/1998, amended 1150/2017) concerning teachers of common modules. Previous experience in teaching is considered an advantage. Unqualified applicants may be considered if no qualified candidates apply. Priority will be given to employees of the City of Kainuu who have been laid off or are part-time, those under threat of layoff, or those whose employment is interrupted, provided they meet the qualification requirements. Our institution operates in Kainuu, Koillismaa, Uusimaa, and occasionally elsewhere. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract issued within the last 6 months, and upon request, a drug test result and a medical certificate of health.
