Job Description
The business developer acts as a project manager in the Etelä-Savo Aktivaattorit project. The goal of this SME activation project is to stimulate growth willingness among SMEs in South Savo, identify growth barriers and skills needs related to growth capacity, and find growth opportunities to increase the number of growth companies. The aim is to improve companies' competitiveness and growth potential and enable access to operational manufacturing and export networks. The project started in autumn 2025 and is ongoing until July 31, 2027. The position is full-time, 100%. The project manager leads the development work carried out for companies, is responsible for the project budget and operational implementation with colleagues, including communication, planning, and scheduling of activities. They oversee the overall management of the project, including procurement of services, reporting, and steering group meetings. The work is done in collaboration with business developers and companies in Pieksämäki and Savonlinna, as well as within a network of stakeholders, other development projects, and industry actors. We require practical experience in broad-based business development and specific expertise in company financing and EU project implementation. You will meet companies at our premises, during company visits, and at various events, so a driver’s license and access to a vehicle are essential. Your daily work will include advising and coaching companies on business development and financing opportunities. An active customer service attitude is fundamental for success. You will also organize and plan events aimed at different companies, requiring presentation and organizational skills. Knowledge of the Mikkeli business advisory network is an advantage, as is experience in entrepreneurship and business economics. Fluent English skills are essential. Your educational background should be in commerce or a related field. You will succeed in this role if you can work well with others, see the bigger picture, and prioritize when needed. Organizational skills, up-to-date digital working skills, and good negotiation skills are required. You should also communicate effectively via electronic channels.
