About the role: As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you'll design and build the backend systems behind Scribe's data ingestion, workflow processing, and AI inference capabilities. You'll work on distributed systems, scalability, and performance, architect large-scale data pipelines, build services that power AI inference with in-house models, and improve business-critical systems across the platform. You will work across Python, TypeScript, and Go in partnership with teammates deploying to AWS. What You'll Do: Architect and evolve large-scale data ingestion and processing pipelines; Build services that power AI inference with our in-house models; Improve the performance of business-critical systems across the platform; Design, deploy, and operate microservices in production; Work across Python, TypeScript, and Go to ship reliable, maintainable code; Partner with teammates to deploy and operate systems in AWS. What We're Looking For: 8+ years of experience building backend applications with Python, TypeScript, or Go; Deep experience designing and operating distributed systems in production; Experience with message queues, background jobs, and task orchestration tools such as Celery, SQS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka; Built large-scale data ingestion and processing systems with scale, reliability, and performance; Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining microservices; Ability to optimize endpoints, improve DB query efficiency, and troubleshoot bottlenecks; Desire for maintainable, high-quality code and ownership; Thrive in fast-moving environments. Nice to Have: Django experience; startup/high-growth background. Location: Hybrid. Based in San Francisco. We work from the office 3 days per week. Compensation: Salary varies by location.
