Job Description

Hervantajärvi is a new unit opening in the fall that provides enhanced round-the-clock residential services for adults with intellectual disabilities requiring special support. The client groups consist of three home groups of four residents each, on two different floors. Our clients may have features of autism spectrum disorder and need psychosocial support, emphasizing multidisciplinary skills, interaction skills, proactive work approach, and individual encounters. The work is carried out using a primary caregiver and care team model, which enables building a good trust relationship between staff and clients and a comprehensive understanding of the clients. The work involves multidisciplinary collaboration with the unit's multidisciplinary team and other partners, such as daytime activities, relatives, and health services. The work team includes a supervisor, guidance professionals with a university of applied sciences degree, a nurse, practical nurses, and care assistants. Approximately a quarter of the senior instructor's working time is allocated to managerial tasks. As a Senior Instructor, your responsibilities include: - Collaborate effectively with staff and supervisors - Ensure smooth daily operations, client activities, and participate in planning and resource allocation (shift planning) - Guarantee that activities are high-quality, cost-effective, client-oriented, compliant with laws, and aligned with organizational guidelines - Develop your professional skills and guide staff development - Follow instructions from immediate supervisors and lead regular team meetings - Ensure timely reporting and documentation in collaboration with the team and supervisor - Promote clients’ overall well-being and health, including daily outdoor activities - Basic care and medication administration - Assess, plan, and implement individual life, daily activities, and functional capacity - Use alternative communication methods - Perform household tasks and daily cooking, providing home-cooked meals for clients when possible - Record data in Omni360 patient information system and social welfare client system Saga. What skills and experience are required? - At least a relevant basic degree in social and health care, registered in the professional register of the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health - Valid hygiene passport and LOVe medication online test. If necessary, you can complete LOVe medication online tests at the start of employment. - Interest in working with adults with intellectual disabilities requiring special support and good stress tolerance - Awareness of the self-determination rights of people with intellectual disabilities and an inclusive work approach - Solution-oriented working style, good digital skills, and strong interaction skills The start date for a permanent position is 1 September 2026 or as agreed. The position is subject to a six-month trial period. The working hours are full-time, approximately 38 hours and 15 minutes per week. Shifts are primarily weekday mornings, if possible. The selected candidate must have valid vaccination protection according to the Infectious Diseases Act (1227/2016) section 48. Before starting, the candidate must present a criminal record extract issued within one month of employment. The candidate must also provide required health certificates within one month of starting. We plan to hold group interviews on 8 July 2026, from 9:00 to 10:30 and 12:00 to 13:30. We will contact shortlisted candidates personally.
