Job Description

Join Orton in building a new joint replacement hospital! Orton has been involved in Finnish specialized hospital-level orthopedic care for decades. Starting from April 1, 2026, Orton Ltd. will, as a subsidiary of HUS, provide care for patients undergoing joint replacement surgery. In the future, Orton will also be responsible for research and educational activities related to joint replacement surgery in the fields of orthopedics, traumatology, and anesthesiology. We are seeking an anesthesiologist to help us build a new joint replacement hospital. The salary is competitive, and the performance-based bonus system is motivating. We hope you enjoy working with joint replacement patients and communicate fluently with various patients and collaboration partners. You are a specialist in anesthesiology with good teamwork skills and a desire to work in a multidisciplinary community. As an anesthesiologist, you will participate in smooth and efficient operating room activities, supported by the use of a dedicated induction room. The primary anesthesia method is spinal anesthesia, with general anesthesia (often TIVA) as an alternative. Your duties include preoperative assessment of patients, ensuring surgical fitness, and planning anesthesia and premedication. You will also be responsible for pain management related to surgery and postoperative monitoring. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to perform ultrasound-guided nerve blocks to support postoperative pain relief. In the future, Orton will also perform emergency joint replacement surgeries for patients requiring urgent care. Emergency surgeries are planned to be carried out during regular working hours, and the hospital will not establish 24/7 emergency surgery readiness or a separate monitoring unit. You are also welcome to participate in operational development and planning and implementing internal training sessions based on your interest. Orton’s strong research tradition will continue in the future, and experience or interest in conducting or leading research related to anesthesiology is considered an advantage. The position is primarily for full-time employment, but part-time arrangements (e.g., 80% working hours) can also be discussed. Working hours are mainly weekdays from 7:45 to 15:45. Additional reasons to choose Orton as your workplace - Orton is a respected specialist in its field. - Employee satisfaction is high, and turnover is low. - We have a well-functioning occupational health service. - We offer regular training to maintain professional skills. - Employee benefits include, among others, free gym access. Our hospital is located in Ruskeasuo, Helsinki, with good transportation links, regardless of where you come from. We are currently planning new premises in Munkkivuori, Helsinki, on Tietokuja.
